Anton B. Dougall’s passion for Maltese cooking and food in general, prompted him to think of ways to share his knowledge with the Maltese public. In 1972, he published his first cookery book – “Tisjir Professjonali” (Professional Cooking). Following the success of this book, a monthly magazine followed: “Menu” in 1976, and in May of that year, the “Klabb tat-Tisjir” (Cookery Club) was founded. Situated in Malta’s capital of Valletta, the club consists of lecture rooms, as well as its own outlet. Since these first publications, a number of books have been published by the club, covering various food-related topics; from Maltese cuisine, to recipes for diabetics. Klabb tat-Tisjir has also issued a series of original recipe cards – these laminated, easy-to-clean cards, each feature a recipe, and are a simple and convenient way for the busy house-wife to vary her daily menus.
